April 2012 Newsletter
We hope you have a good time at our latest Open Show here at Great Barr. We thought a newsletter would be a good idea to communicate some of the changes coming up here at BG&T, as well as a couple of things happening at the show today. We’d also like to take this opportunity to thank all of you, the exhibitors, for your continued support.

We introduced a lucky catalogue prize at our October Show last year, and although all of you thought it was a good idea, no one claimed it. So the bottle of Bombay Sapphire Gin and accompanying tonic has rolled over to this show. Please make sure you collect your individual raffle ticket with your catalogue. We have a limited number of catalogues for sale at the show, but if any prepaid catalogues haven’t been collected by 12noon, you can come and buy one of these.

We also have a playing card raffle for a great coffee machine, kindly donated by one of our members. Please look out for one of our committee or show helpers selling cards for this, and the raffle tickets too. All raffles will be drawn between 1 and 1.30pm.

We launched our website last year, and it is continuing to attract visitors. We have a running wall of examples of gundogs and terriers, and would love to have good photographs to build up the display here. Please email Sheila Atter who looks after the website, if you can make any available to us. The website will be expanded over time, so your ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Our next show will be on Saturday 20 October 2012, and will be here at Great Barr. This show will be the first with our new printers, FOSSE DATA which means you’ll be able to enter online easily in addition to sending your entries in the usual manner by post. The schedule will appear on their site soon, and we hope you will appreciate this step forward for BG&T. This move to FOSSE DATA was in response to a lot of suggestions from you, the membership and exhibitors.

The other exciting news, is that after many years here at Great Barr. The show will be moving to Sports Connexion at Ryton On Dunsmore, from April next year. This decision was taken by the committee due to the increasing entries to the show, and suggestions from yourselves and the KC Field Officer that things were becoming a little cramped here at Great Barr. We hope you will all feel able to support this move. We will increase the number of rings to six, with the extra space available, which will help us run the show more efficiently.
As always, suggestions for specialist breed judges are very welcome, pass them to the Secretary, Rachel Leeson. Please submit them by email or phone, as on the day of the show she has a lot to do, concentrating on making the day as enjoyable as possible for you. We plan to increase the specialist judges officiating over the next few years, as well as inviting some exciting group judges. You can contact Rachel or Angela Aulton, Chairman, with any other helpful ideas you have for the committee to consider.
We are always on the lookout for new committee members, particularly from the gundog breeds. Don’t be shy, if you’re interested, please let one of the committee know.

Alan, Angela, Craig, Gill, Lynne, Rachel and Sarah. The BG&T Team.
